First they told the class why he was selected as this month's responsibility themed Student of the Month award. Her teacher said that first she picked who came to school every day on time, with all their homework finished, their read at home books read (they each get a book a day to read and return the next day), their lunch and jackets in hand all prepared for the day. She said that narrowed it down to Henry and his brother and sister. (Another proud moment for mom. It sounds like I need the student of the month award now. LOL) So then she looked at the behavior in class. Who listened to all the directions. Who obeyed the rules and was helpful in class. She said that lead her to making Henry the Student of the Month as he is the most responsible kid in her class.
The principal congratulating him on his job well done while stressing the importance of responsibility.

They all clapped for him. (I didn't cry!)

He was awarded with a certificate, and coupons for free meals at local restaurants.

His proud little face. I just love this little man.

The principal and Henry. The principal, who knows every kid by name, is amazing with these kids and incredibly involved.

His photographer mom had to make him stand there with his certificate of course. At 5 he's OK with that still. This will probably not last as long as I'm going to want it too. I have a feeling I'm on the verge of becoming embarrassing mom very soon.

The award. I'm going to refrain from framing it and putting it on his headboard.

It was so nice to see my kids in their class. They we're doing really well sitting and watching Henry get his award. All three looked so proud like it was a collective award. I have good kids. (Well, until the next blog when I tell you all how Jack was sling shot into the concrete face first breaking his glasses and nearly his nose.)
