RIP Batty.

Over a year ago Henry fell in love with all things bat. He loves Batman, bat teeth, vampires and most of all bats. About that time Abigail was getting into The Littlest Pet Shop's and Henry became enamored with the Bat in the collection. He named him Batty, same as his favorite character, Batty from Ferngully. However, Batty the Pet Shop was a limited edition and MAN was he ever hard to find. Casey ended up spending five times what he was originally worth on EBay just so Henry could get Batty for Christmas. Henry's face while opening Batty Christmas morning was priceless.

Since Christmas Batty has remained Henry's most beloved toy. He'd keep him in his bed. Play with him in the bath. He played with him while playing Batman, and even built a Lego castle for Batty. It always made me smile that Henry liked his Batty so much and that we had been able to get it for him for Christmas.

Today, after taking Batty out to play with him Henry left him on the floor for a second and Batty was eaten by the dogs. It was very very sad. Henry was devastated. I could feel his devastation and know how much he loved Batty. It was Batty.

Batty today, after the mauling.

No ear, no wing, missing body parts. It's sad.

Henry asked if he were to ever find a Batty again (meaning, 'Mom please get the $80 Batty off EBay) if he could have his picture taken and put on his wall in his room. Sadly, while we had Batty I didn't take any pictures of him other than the one of him being opened at Christmas. While I just can't justify spending that amount to get Batty off EBay, I do hope to one day find him a new Batty. A bat loving boy just isn't the same without his Batty.
